About Us & What we do

We discovered that while the information is available for a Local Knowledge Endorsement it was in many different places making it difficult to remember when learning it all from scratch. So we collected it all together, and have presented it in all one place, both on paper and electronically.

These products have been designed to help you learn, refresh and check against your knowledge of the River Thames toward whichever route you get your endorsements or just as good practice. They are not navigational guides and can therefore only be used as a basis for passage planning with a lot of other information from other sources.

Publically available resources can help you prepare for the local knowledge endorsement and create passage plans. The Port of London Authority (PLA) issues charts and corrections for the Thames. They also publish and make publically available codes of practice, Notice to Mariners and byelaws.

The Thames LKE Training products are designed to provide you with a variety of methods to learn on your own or during a course; we have the A4 Binder with space for course notes, flash cards for memory testing, and the Local Knowledge e-Training Tool (LoKeTT) for the interactive and mobile experience, other interactive quizzes and revision advice is available on our website for registered customers. We run training courses, including mock exams, so come and join us out on the river too.
